Mixed bed ion exchange

A mixed bed ion exchange in water treatment uses two ion exchange regenerative systems formed in beads shape. It allows the cation and anions resin beads to mix together to remove impurities to produce high-quality water.

The mixed bed ion exchange acts as a deionizer and effectively removes the ions present in the water.

Efficiently combining both cation and anion resins in a single unit with compressed air for maximum purification results, HY mixed bed polishing systems generate ultra-high purity water with a near-neutral pH and low rinse water requirements. Cation resin exchanges hydrogen (H+) for cations (i.e. sodium), while anion resin exchanges hydroxyl (OH-) for anions (i.e. chloride). Hydrogen and hydroxide combine to form water, thereby purifying the incoming water. As the resins effectively remove the last traces of salinity and silica from pretreated water, a purer water is achieved (~18 Megaohm-cm, depending on feedwater quality) than what would otherwise result from conventional demineralization.

Although the process involves more intricate operating procedures (the resins require separation prior to regeneration) our mixed bed exchangers are ideal for polishing certain types of pretreated water streams for use in process condensate, semiconductor industry feed water, and many other applications.

Advantages:

· Most plant operating personnel are familiar with this process

Disadvantages:

· Requires chemicals

· Chemical feed storage tanks required

· Neutralization process required

Output water quality:  Water resistivity at 1 – 10megohm, For example, water for rinsing and plating solution in PCB; water for chemical solution in battery product; cleaning water for electronic manufacturing; water for chemical solution in chemical plant; water for boiler in power plant.

Below have two treatment way:

A) By ion exchange:

Raw Water--> Multimedia Filter--> Activated Carbon Filter--> Cation exchange- Anion exchange-> Mixed-Bed Deionizer--> Deionized Water.

B) By reverse osmosis+ mixed bed:

Raw Water--> Multimedia Filter--> Activated Carbon Filter--> Reverse Osmosis --> Mixed-Bed Deionizer
